This is a manual rapier blade made of spring steel, the same type used in Olympic fencing. However, the tip has been modified to resemble that of historical practice blades with a button-like point (see image).
Proper use of the blades is essential in competitive fencing. Blade breakage and deformation depend heavily on the style and intensity of the fencing, making it difficult to predict a blade's lifespan. It is recommended to purchase two to three blades at a time, rather than just one.
